The costs of medication errors can have an enormous impact on the delivery of safe and effective patient care. Medication errors account for at least one patient death every day and nearly 1.3 million patient injuries each year in the U.S. alone(FDA, 2011). This is startling considering most, if not all could be preventable. Even more astonishing are these statistics include only those medication errors that have actually been “reported”.

How do you make employee engagement a priority while improving workplace quality? Believe it or not, many hospitals, healthcare facilities, and staffing agencies are still behind the times when it comes to administering nurse competency exams. These organizations still rely on Pen & Paper tests to assess nursing job knowledge, skills, and abilities. Pen & paper assessments cause efficiency and validity breakdowns for many reasons. All of these challenges can be eliminated by using online healthcare competency testing (if the vendor’s software meets these requirements).
